(Cleveland).- Ohio’s racinos and casinos had their best January ever in terms of revenue, bouncing back from a dip last January due to COVID-19 curfews.

Ohio´s casinos, racinos bring in a January record of $171 million

Reports released Monday show the state’s 11 casinos and racinos brought in $171.2 million this past month. Gambling revenue dipped to $153.4 million in January 2021. It was at $167.5 million in 2020, the previous record, and $140.7 million in 2019. This is the money kept by the gambling houses, after paying out winnings, but before state taxes and fees.

This time last year the facilities were under a state-ordered curfew that forced the racinos and casinos to have reduced hours.

It’s clear looking at the January numbers and past reports that revenue continues to grow. Ohio’s casinos and racinos brought in $2.31 billion in gambling revenue in 2021, having a record year despite curfews the early part of the year.

Ohio’s casinos and racinos have broken the record nine out of the last 10 years. The only year they didn’t was 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic shut them down and placed curfews on them for parts of the year.

In the Greater Cleveland market, January revenue was:

* $20.2 million at MGM Northfield Park, up from $18 million in January 2022.

* $18.3 million at JACK Casino Cleveland, up from $16.5 million.

* $13.2 million at JACK Thistledown Racino, slightly down from $13.3 million.
